Lakeside is a nine-piece soul funk band formed in Dayton, Ohio, U.S., from members of two groups, The Montereys and The Nomads. Originally named Ohio Lakeside Express, they were signed shortly after their formation in 1977. Their debut album was released in the same year, produced by an unnamed individual. They also produced "Stop Before You Break My Heart" from their third and final album. Between 1978 and 1990, Lakeside released nine albums. The main lineup, after several changes, included members on guitar, vocals, keyboards, drums, bass, and percussion. The band became known for their flamboyant theatrical costumes on album covers and their rich, heavy, uplifting funk soul sound. Their biggest legacy is the 1980 single "Fantastic Voyage," which reached No. 1 on the R&B charts and No. 55 on the U.S. pop chart. The song was included in the soundtrack of the 1992 film "South Central" and covered by several rappers in 1994. Other notable hits include "It's All The Way Live," "I Want To Hold Your Hand," "Raid," and
