Lana Del Rey, born on June 21, 1985, in New York City, New York, is an American singer, songwriter, producer, artist, and poet. Raised in Lake Placid, New York, she was sent to Kent School in Connecticut at the age of fifteen to address her alcohol abuse. After graduating high school in 2003, she spent a year living on Long Island. She learned to play guitar from her uncle and began performing at nightclubs under various names, including "Sparkle Jump Rope Queen" and "Lizzy Grant and the Phenomena," without a serious ambition to pursue music as a career. In the fall of 2004, she enrolled at Fordham University in New York, where she studied metaphysics and began her musical journey. Between 2005 and 2009, she worked on several music projects, including her work as May Jailer. She released her first album, "A.K.A. Lizzy Grant," in 2010 under the stage name Lana Del Ray, which was later changed to Lana Del Rey. Over the years, more than 200 of her songs, primarily demos and tracks from her earlier eras, have leaked through various media.
