Laughing Hyenas was an American alternative rock band formed in 1985 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and active until 1995. The group consisted of vocalist John Brannon, guitarist Larissa Stolarchuk, bassist Kevin Monroe, and drummer Mike Danner, who was soon replaced by Jim Kimball. Stolarchuk and Monroe, both new to their instruments at the time, adopted the surname "Strickland" during their tenure. This lineup recorded three LPs over the first five years. Monroe and Kimball later left to form another band, while Brannon and Stolarchuk brought in bassist Kevin Reis and drummer Todd Swalla. This new lineup released the 1992 EP "Crawl." Ron Sakowski replaced Reis for the band's final LP, "Hard Times," released in 1995. Following the band's disbandment, Brannon went on to form another group, which also featured contributions from Ron Sakowski. Larissa Stolarchuk passed away in October 2006.
