Laura Nyro was an American songwriter, singer, and pianist, born on October 18, 1947, in The Bronx, New York City. She passed away on April 8, 1997, in Danbury, Connecticut, at the age of 49. Nyro was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2010 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
