Laurence Vanay is the pseudonym of Jacqueline Thibault, who is the wife of a music producer and musician formerly associated with Magma. She debuted with the album 'Galaxies' in 1974, which has become a rare and sought-after item among collectors of 1970s underground French progressive music. In 1975, she released 'Evening Colours' and a final album that same year titled 'Magic Slows,' which was released under the alias Maire Mennesson due to her desire not to take credit for a commissioned commercial covers album featuring a provocative cover. Two additional albums, 'Les Soleils de La Vie' (1977) and 'Petite Fenêtre,' were recorded but ultimately shelved because Barclay, the intended distributor, was dissatisfied with the mixes. These albums remained unreleased until 2015.
