Lazy Lester was an American blues musician born on June 20, 1933, in Torras, Louisiana. He was known for his singing and proficiency with the harmonica and guitar. Over his career, which spanned from the 1950s until his passing on August 22, 2018, in Paradise, California, he pioneered swamp blues and also played harmonica blues, rhythm and blues, and Louisiana blues. Lazy Lester recorded at a studio in Crowley, LA, from 1956 to 1967 and frequently accompanied other Louisiana blues artists. However, by the late 1960s, he stepped away from the music industry to work manual labor and pursue his hobby of fishing. He made a successful comeback in the late 1980s and recorded albums for various labels.
