Lefties Soul Connection is a contemporary raw funk outfit based in Amsterdam. They gained significant attention in the European funk community with the release of their first single, "Doin' The Thing / Generator Oil," in December 2002. This release was praised by Jazzman Gerald, who noted that they were "only the third European funk 45 outfit (after Poets of Rhythm & Timmion collective) man enough to lay their dirty funk down on wax." The band consists of Alvin "Alviz" Bartels on Hammond Organ and Percussion, Onno Smit on Guitar, Vocals, and Percussion, Bram Bosman on Bass and Percussion, and Cody Vogel on Drums. During live performances and recording sessions, they are often joined by Paul Willemsen, who plays Guitar and Percussion.
