Leila Maria is a Brazilian singer and songwriter born on April 15, 1956, in Rio de Janeiro, RJ. She began her career as an invited singer for Paulo Moura’s band, a well-known Brazilian conductor and clarinetist. In 1997, she released her album "Vom Kopf Bis Fuss (From Head to Feet)" under the label GPA, which was well received by both the public and critics, showcasing her unique style and daring arrangements. Despite the phonographic crisis in Brazil that limited opportunities for many artists, Leila continued to work in the Rio/São Paulo axis, establishing herself as a notable interpreter. She has earned the respect and admiration of many musicians, including Ed Motta, who invited her to collaborate on a song for his album "Dwitza." Ed Motta has praised Leila in interviews, calling her “one of the biggest living singers in the world.”
