Len Barry, born on June 12, 1942, in Philadelphia, was a blue-eyed soul vocalist known for his contributions to the music scene in the early '60s. He first appeared as the vocalist for the 1958 single "Mope-Itty Mope" by the Boss-Tones. In 1957, he formed the group that became the Dovells, lending his voice to their Top Ten hits "The Bristol Stomp" and "You Can't Sit Down." Barry left the Dovells in late 1963 and signed with Decca as a solo artist. His single "1-2-3" became a major hit in 1965, narrowly missing the top of the charts. Despite the rapidly changing music landscape, he reached the Top 40 two more times with "Like a Baby" and "Somewhere," the latter from West Side Story. Barry continued to perform his engaging stage act and later ventured into music production. He passed away on November 5, 2020.
