Lena Machado was a renowned singer and prolific songwriter, born on December 16, 1903. She passed away on January 22, 1974. In recognition of her contributions to music, she was inducted into the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame in 1995. Additionally, she received a posthumous Nā Hōkū Hanohano Lifetime Achievement Award in 1999 from the Hawaiʻi Academy of Recording Arts. Her life and work are documented in the book "Lena Machado Songbird of Hawaii" by Pi‘iolani Motta and Kīhei De Silva, published in 2006.
