Lennie Hibbert (1928–1984) was a celebrated Jamaican vibraphonist and bandleader whose work helped shape the sound of postwar Jamaican jazz and ska. A graduate of the Alpha Boys School, he led the institution’s band and became a mentor to many of the island’s most influential musicians. Hibbert’s recordings for Studio One, including *Creation* and *More Creation*, blended elegant jazz phrasing with the rhythmic vitality of ska and reggae, earning him enduring respect as a pioneer in Jamaica’s rich musical heritage.
