Lennie Tristano was an American jazz pianist, composer, and teacher of jazz improvisation, born on March 19, 1919, in Chicago, Illinois. He became blind at the age of 10 and lived in New York City from 1946 until his passing. Tristano died on November 18, 1978, in New York City at the age of 59.
