Lennis Guess was a US soul singer, songwriter, and producer born in Norfolk, Virginia, in 1940. He passed away on October 5, 2021, at the age of 81 in his hometown. Guess played a crucial role in the development of what is now known as "The Norfolk Sound." During the 1960s and 1970s, he was a prominent figure in the soul and funk music scene, recording significant regional hits for producer Frank Guida's local music labels, as well as for his own companies, D.P.G. and Guess. In addition to his music career, Guess was also a filmmaker, playwright, actor, and theatre director.
