Leon Thomas (October 4, 1937 – May 8, 1999) was an American jazz singer known for his unique vocal style and contributions to the genre. He gained prominence in 1969 with his performance of "The Creator Has a Master Plan," demonstrating that avant-garde jazz could achieve popularity. Thomas was a fairly conventional singer, but he was notable for incorporating yodeling into his performances, a technique that has since been used by others. Throughout his career, he also served as a sideman on various recordings, including a 1970 album and collaborated with other artists from 1973 to 1974. Leon Thomas passed away from heart failure on May 8, 1999.
