Leroy Smart, born in 1952 in Kingston, Jamaica, is a renowned reggae singer and producer. He began his musical journey by recording his first single, "It Pains Me," in 1969. In 1970, he recorded "Ethiopia" for Joe Gibbs and the initial version of one of his most famous tracks, "Pride & Ambition," with producer Gussie Clarke. Smart achieved significant success in 1973 with "Mother Liza," produced by Jimmy Radway, which reached the top of the local singles chart. He started producing his own music in 1977 and has since released over 35 albums, maintaining his popularity in the reggae scene. Additionally, Smart appeared in the film "Rockers," alongside notable artists like Gregory Isaacs and Jacob Miller.
