Les Chakachas is a Belgian-based group of Latin soul and Afro-Cuban studio musicians, founded in 1958 by a bandleader known for his percussion skills. The original lineup featured Kari Kenton, a Cuban vocalist, alongside a Dutch saxophonist from Liège, a trumpeter, a pianist, a guitarist who also provided backing vocals, and a bass guitarist. Most members hailed from Schaarbeek, a district of Brussels, or nearby Charleroi, Willebroek, and Liège. After a musical hiatus in the mid-sixties, the band reassembled with a new lineup and a different sound, consisting of session musicians who were involved in other bands and projects. This new version of the Chakachas blended Latin, soul, funk, jazz, and Afro styles, with the bulk of their songs written by key contributors. Their biggest hit, "Jungle Fever," was released in 1970. The Chakachas also recorded under the name Los Chicles.
