Lester Young was an American jazz tenor saxophonist born on August 27, 1909, in Woodville, Mississippi. He passed away on March 15, 1959, in New York City, New York. Young is recognized as one of the three "great tenors" of the swing era. In addition to the saxophone, he occasionally played the clarinet.
