Lightnin' Hopkins was an American country blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist, born on March 15, 1912, in Centerville, Leon County, Texas, USA. He passed away on January 30, 1982, in Houston, Texas, USA. In 1920, Hopkins had the opportunity to play with a legendary figure at a social function. His cousin was also involved in music, and while they were performing together in Houston in 1946, he was discovered by Lola Anne Cullum from Los Angeles. Hopkins first recorded with pianist Wilson Smith, and they were marketed as 'Lightning' & 'Thunder.' Strong recordings followed, including his notable song "Mojo Hand" released in 1960. He inspired many artists and was often miscredited for writing the 1954 song "I Feel So Bad," which was covered by various artists. He also wrote a song by the same name released in 1947 and again in 1962.
