Lightnin' Hopkins was an American country blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist, born on March 15, 1912, in Centerville, Leon County, Texas. He passed away on January 30, 1982, in Houston, Texas. In 1920, Hopkins had the opportunity to meet a legendary figure at a social function, which allowed him to play alongside him. His cousin was also involved in music. While performing together in Houston in 1946, he was discovered by Lola Anne Cullum from Los Angeles. Hopkins first recorded with pianist Wilson Smith, and they were marketed as 'Lightning' & 'Thunder.' He produced strong recordings, including the song "Mojo Hand" in 1960, and inspired many artists. Although often miscredited for writing the 1954 song "I Feel So Bad," which was covered by various artists, he did write a song with the same name released in 1947 and again in 1962.
