Lil Green was an American blues singer and songwriter born on December 22, 1919, in Mississippi. After the deaths of her parents, she relocated to Chicago, where she began performing in her teens and recorded all of her career's work. Known for her superb timing and distinctively sinuous voice, Lil Green collaborated with Big Bill Broonzy on a nightclub act in the 1930s. Her two biggest hits were "Romance in the Dark" (1940) and "Why Don't You Do Right?" (1941), written by Joe McCoy. She passed away on April 14, 1954, in Chicago.
