Link Wray was an American rock guitarist born on May 2, 1929, in Dunn, North Carolina. He is recognized as an innovator in music for being one of the first guitarists to utilize power chords with distorted sounds and the Larsen effect. In the early 1980s, he relocated to Denmark, where he lived until his death on November 5, 2005, in Copenhagen. He was the son of Lillian Mae "Lillie" Wray (née Coats).
