Lionrock was a British Big Beat group formed in 1992, consisting of Justin Robertson, Mark Stagg, and MC Buzz B. They initially gained recognition by remixing tracks for artists such as The Shamen, Bjork, and Happy Mondays, and released their debut EP during this period. From 1993 until their debut album in 1996, Lionrock produced several singles, including 'Packet Of Peace', 'Tripwire', 'Straight To Your Head', and 'Fire Up The Shoeshaw', the latter of which was featured in the 1999 film 'Go'. During this time, Stagg was replaced by recording engineer Roger Lyons. Lionrock achieved their highest chart success with the 1998 single 'Rude Boy Rock', which peaked at number 20 and found its way into various television shows, movies, and video games. The trio was prominent in the remix scene throughout the 1990s, reworking tracks for a variety of artists, including Apollo 440, New Order, The Grid, Transglobal Underground, Manic Street Preachers, and Placebo, before disbanding at the turn of the century. After the breakup, Robertson continued to create music under various names, including his own, while Stagg focused on production and engineering, launching new projects in 2001 with ex-members of Eskimo and Egypt, and again a decade later. When performing live, Lionrock was accompanied by a keyboardist and a bassist.
