Liquid Liquid is a pioneering New York City band formed in the early 1980s, known for their hypnotic fusion of funk, post-punk, and experimental dance rhythms. Emerging from the downtown No Wave scene, they built their reputation on raw, percussive grooves and minimalist, bass-driven tracks that bridged underground art spaces and club culture. Their work, notably released on the 99 Records label, became highly influential, inspiring generations of artists across punk, hip-hop, and electronic music—including the iconic sampling of “Cavern” in Grandmaster Melle Mel’s “White Lines (Don’t Do It).”
