Lisa Stansfield, born on April 11, 1966, in Rochdale, Lancashire, United Kingdom, is a British female vocalist known for her impactful contributions to pop and R&B music. Her career began in 1980 when she won the TV casting show "Search for a Star" at the age of 14, leading to her work as a singer and TV presenter. Stansfield gained prominence with her 1989 debut album, 'Affection,' which featured hits like 'All Around The World' and 'People Hold On.' She continued her success with the 1991 album 'Real Love' and achieved a #1 hit on the U.S. R&B charts with 'All Woman.' Despite facing challenges early in her career, she formed her first band with schoolmates, which disbanded in 1988. However, her former bandmates went on to work as producers and songwriters, ultimately collaborating with Stansfield, which helped launch her successful solo career. In 1998, she married her long-time partner, who had been with her for several years. Throughout her career, Stansfield has continued to record and perform, enjoying lasting success well beyond the millennium.
