Little Phil & The Night Shadows was a US psychedelic rock band from Atlanta, Georgia. The group was originally formed in December 1956 as The Cavaliers, but changed their name to The Kavaliers in 1957 to avoid legal issues with another band. After several personnel changes in the summer of 1959, they became The Barons. Later that year, the lead guitarist wrote an instrumental titled "Night Shadows," which inspired a name change to The Night Shadows, a decision made by the guitarist against the wishes of the other members. From the fall of 1959 until 1961, The Night Shadows primarily performed as a Chicago-style blues band. In 1962, the band transitioned into a rhythm & blues show band featuring Little Erv Barocas and an Elizabeth Taylor look-alike as headliners. They gained popularity playing racially segregated Southern college dances and formals. The British Invasion in 1964 shifted the group's focus to rock, leading to the departure of Erv and Judy. Fourteen-year-old Little Phil was chosen to front the band in 1965. A studio engineer and producer, who had worked with them since 1959, opened his own recording facility and sought artists with original material. This led to a label deal and the release of their single "So Much," featuring Little Phil as the lead singer, alongside band members Jimmy Callaway (guitar), Bobby Newell (organ), Charles Spinks (drums), and Aleck Jan
