Lloyd McNeill was an American flautist, composer, and producer, born on April 12, 1935, in Washington, DC, USA. He passed away on November 5, 2021, in Brooklyn, NYC, USA. McNeill was a multidisciplinary artist, recognized for his drawing and painting, and lived in Paris in 1965, where he became friends with Picasso. He was also a music anthropologist, poet, teacher, and musician, collaborating with various artists throughout his career. In the 1960s, McNeill was actively involved in the civil rights movement and produced music for ballet, alongside his paintings and installations. His musical style blended jazz with Latin, Brazilian, and African rhythms, which he explored during his travels through Africa and Brazil.
