LoKkHi TeRra is a critically acclaimed UK-based band known for their unique blend of diverse musical traditions found in London. Their sound incorporates elements such as Cuban rumba with Bengali folk, Afro-beat played on Asian and Latin instruments, and South African township music mixed with Indian classical and funk. The band is led by pianist Kishon Khan, who has collaborated with notable artists like Hugh Masekela and Giles Peterson, and won the SAIFF award for best original soundtrack in 2009. The lineup features renowned musicians, including Pandit Dinesh, the Godfather of British Asian Percussion, and Cuban percussionists Oreste Noda and Randy Lester. They are joined by Cuban bassist Jimmy Martinez and UK guitarist Phil Dawson, along with Turk-Cypriot drummer Tansay Omar. LoKkHi TeRra boasts an impressive horn section with Justin Thurgur on trombone, Graeme Flowers on trumpet, and Finn Peters on flute and saxophone, alongside Pakistani bansuri player Haider Rahman. The band also features Bengali singers Sohini Alam, Aneire Khan, and Aanon Siddiqua, along with Cuban vocalist Javier Camilo, creating a rich tapestry of sound that resonates with audiences.
