Loleatta Holloway was born on November 5, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois. She began her career in music singing gospel alongside the renowned Queen of Gospel, Albertina Walker, and the Caravans. In 1976, Holloway transitioned to disco music, primarily working with Salsoul Records, where she produced classics such as "Love Sensation" and "Relight My Fire." In 1984, she departed from Salsoul Records to work on an album titled "Crash Goes Love," which remained unfinished, resulting in the release of only two singles, including the title track and "Sweet Thing," co-written by Chaka Khan and Tony Maiden of Rufus. During her time in London, she recorded "Heartstealer" after performing at the 10th anniversary of the "Heaven" nightclub. Over the years, many of her earlier hits were sampled by house producers; notably, her vocals from the 1980 disco hit "Love Sensation" were used in the track "Ride On Time." Although her vocals were initially used without credit, she successfully sued the band and received a share of the royalties. The only instance where she was properly credited and compensated was for the song "Good Vibrations" in 1991, which also sampled her vocals from "Love Sensation." Loleatta Holloway passed away on March 21, 2011.
