Lonnie Donegan was a Scottish skiffle vocalist, banjo, washboard player, guitarist, and songwriter, known as the "King Of Skiffle." He was born on April 29, 1931, in Bridgeton, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, and passed away on November 3, 2002, in Market Deeping, Lincolnshire, England. Throughout his career, he charted twelve times in the U.S. and U.K. between 1956 and 1969. He co-wrote and performed on two #1 U.K. songs: "Gamblin' Man / Putting on the Style" in 1957, co-written with Woody Guthrie and Norman Cazden, and "My Old Man's a Dustman (Ballad of a Refuse Disposal Officer)" in 1960, co-written with Peter Buchanan and Beverley Thorne.
