Loop Guru is an ambient/worldbeat group formed by bassist/guitarist Salman Gita (born Sam Dodson) and programmer Jamuud (born David Muddyman). Their music blends Asian and Western influences, combining Western dance beats with the textures and sounds of Indonesian gamelan and traditional Indian music. They emphasize electronic samples of traditional instruments, voices, and various sounds. The group has included other members over the years, such as Elmer Thudd (drums), Eskimo Bob (multi-instrumentalist), Zahrema (vocals), Linda Goldfinger (vocals), Mad Jym (percussion), Lydie Pfeiffer (vocals), and Liz Fletcher (vocals).
