Lootpack is a hip-hop trio from Oxnard, California, recognized for their jazz-influenced beats and intricate lyricism. The group consists of members Wildchild, DJ Romes, and producer Madlib, who was also an early member before pursuing a solo career. Lootpack first gained attention in the mid-1990s with their debut on the 'Coast II Coast' album in 1995. Their breakthrough came with the release of their 1999 debut album, "Soundpieces: Da Antidote!", which showcased Madlib’s signature off-kilter production and the group’s unique chemistry. Although Lootpack never released another full-length album, its members remained active in the music scene. Madlib became one of hip-hop’s most celebrated producers, collaborating with artists like MF DOOM, J Dilla, and Freddie Gibbs. Wildchild and DJ Romes also pursued solo projects, contributing to the group’s underground legacy. Lootpack is considered a key influence in the underground hip-hop scene, helping to establish independent rap as a major force.
