**Bio: Lord Funny** Real Name: Lord Funny Born: May 23, 1941 Died: July 31, 2025 Lord Funny was one of Trinidad's most celebrated humorous calypsonians, maintaining his popularity in the calypso tents for over three decades. Growing up in Morvant, he was given the nickname "Funny," originally a childhood moniker for his older brother. From a young age, he showcased his musical talent by singing and playing guitar in his neighborhood. In 1965, he entered a local calypso competition with his song "Dozen Men on the Ground." His career gained momentum in 1966 with the help of King Solomon, leading to his debut at the CDC Calypso Theatre tent, where he performed his well-loved patriotic song "Sweet Sweet Trinidad" and the suggestive "Vicey." "Sweet Sweet Trinidad" became a lasting favorite and later appeared on his first album. He continued to perform at the Calypso Theatre for two more years, presenting songs such as "Food is Food" and "Good Advice" in 1967, and "Supposing It Happen True" and "Girl Days" in 1968.
