Los Alegres de Terán is a Norteño music group from Mexico, formed in Nuevo León in the mid-1940s by Eugenio Abrego and Tomas Ortiz. They initially focused their activities around Monterrey and Reynosa before settling in McAllen, Texas. The group released their first album in 1948, titled "Corrido de Pepito," and became pioneers of the norteño style, performing corridos, rancheras, and norteño songs. They achieved success with hits such as "Carta Jugada," "Alma Enamorada," and "Entre Copa y Copa." Additionally, they participated in cross-marketing efforts, including a performance at the first Polka Festival in Chicago during the mid-1960s, and appeared in several films, including the 1961 melodrama "Pueblito" directed by Emilio Fernandez. Los Alegres de Terán were inducted into the Tejano Conjunto Hall of Fame in 1983. Abrego passed away five years later, and Tomas Ortiz died in November 2007.
