**Bio: Los Columbus** Los Columbus is a musical group founded in 1958 in Colón, Matanzas, Cuba. The original members, all from Colón, Matanzas, included Magali Roda, Ángel M. Roda (Marcito), Manuel del Puerto, and Jacobo Rousseau. They made their public debut as amateurs on August 26, 1958, at the Liceo de Colón, performing alongside the Internacional de Varadero. They were contracted to perform at the "Cabaret Venecia" in Santa Clara on September 21, where they made their professional debut in October. In November, Tino Sotolongo replaced Jacobo Rousseau. In the following months, they appeared on television in Havana. They were hired by Mexican entrepreneurs and traveled to Mexico, where they performed for seven months starting in February 1959 at the "Cabaret Los Globos," in an Afro-Cuban production directed by choreographer Luis Trápaga. In May of that year, Alberto Soroa took over for Sotolongo, and by the end of the year, he was succeeded by Mexican dancer-singer Enrique Vergara. While in Mexico, they also performed in theaters, on radio and television, and at numerous nightclubs throughout the capital and the interior of the country.
