Los Lobos is a multiple Grammy Award-winning American Chicano rock band that was founded in 1973 in Dixon, California. Their music blends influences from rock and roll, Tex-Mex, country, folk, R&B, blues, brown-eyed soul, and traditional Spanish and Mexican genres such as cumbia, boleros, and norteños. Francisco González, who was a founding member of Los Lobos, played with the band from 1973 to 1976 and was known for his contributions as a guitar-string pioneer. He passed away on March 30, 2022, at the age of 68, and did not perform on the band's 1977 debut album of Mexican folk music.
