**Bio: Los Martins** Carlos Risueño was born in 1942, followed by his brother Manolo in 1943. There is some confusion regarding their birthplace, as their first EP lists Gerona and Valencia, while family sources indicate their childhood and youth were spent in Zafra, Badajoz. It is believed their parents lived in various cities during the 1940s before settling in Zafra. In late 1962, Carlos and Manolo formed the quartet Los Risueño, one of the first groups from Extremadura. By 1964, they moved to Madrid to pursue degrees in Aeronautics and Public Works, deciding to form a duo and perform in clubs and radio stations. Their talent led to a three-month tour across the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, and Portugal, culminating in a performance as opening acts for The Beatles in July 1965 at Plaza de Toros de las Ventas. In 1965, they participated in the Benidorm festival with the song “Primer amor,” which won them a second-place award, leading to the release of their first EP, “Benidorm 65” (RCA, 1965). Though the EP featured four melodically characterized tracks by Spanish authors, it did not gain much traction.
