Los Matadores is a band formed in Diego Suarez, located in the north-west of Madagascar, during the mid-1970s. The band was led by a retired Italian army legionnaire who, despite not being a musician, had a deep passion for music. He owned a restaurant called "Le Saigonnais," where the band held sessions and performed. Many of the band's tracks were inspired by him, and he even wrote titles for his daughters, such as Alda, and sang them. One of their notable songs references the origins of the father. The group consisted of musicians from various regions around the Indian Ocean and beyond, including a saxophonist from Argentina. Many soldiers who passed through Diego Suarez were familiar with the restaurant and the renowned band.
