Los Tres Reyes is a music group founded in 1957 by brothers Gilberto Puente and Raúl Puente, initially associated with the trío romántico style, similar to Los Panchos. Gilberto is known for his exceptional requinto playing and his ability to emulate the Los Panchos style. The group performed a variety of Latin American music and continued its activities into the 1970s before taking a fifteen-year hiatus. During this break, Gilberto Puente accompanied Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán. The group re-formed in 1991 and has since recorded for the Smithsonian Institution. Originally based in Mexico, Los Tres Reyes is now closely linked to San Antonio and is recognized for their duet version of "No Me Queda Más" with Tejano musician Selena. One of their recent projects, "Recordando Los Panchos," features a collection of boleros made famous by Los Panchos, concluding with the line: "interpretan los Tres Reyes a Los Panchos."
