Los Vikings 5 is a Chilean cumbia band formed in 1968 in Coquimbo, North Chile. The band is known for appropriating Colombian rhythms and adding local twists, such as the incorporation of electric guitar, to create a unique sound. The original lineup included Onofre "Chagua" Núñez on lead vocals from 1969 until 2001, Guillermo Montero on guitar, Eduardo Aranda on guitar until around 1977, Mario García on bass until approximately 1985, and Juan Núñez on percussion until 2000. Eduardo Macuada joined on guitar in 1978, Edson Núñez on bass in 1986, and Franco Cortés on piano in 1991. Ángel Núñez became the percussionist and musical director in 2000, while Pedro "Ricki" Barraza took over lead vocals in 2001. Javier León joined as a backing vocalist in 2003, and Christopher Cortés began playing timbales in 2005. The band has seen various changes in its lineup over the years but continues to be a significant presence in the cumbia music scene.
