Lotti Golden is a rhythm and blues, soul, and rock singer-songwriter, producer, music journalist, and poet, born on November 27, 1949, in New York City. She debuted on Atlantic Records in 1969 with her semi-autobiographical LP, "Motor-Cycle," which blended urban poetry with rock, R&B, and jazz. The success of her work, which she co-wrote, allowed her to transition into record production. In the early 1980s, she collaborated extensively and formed the electro hip hop group Warp 9 with co-producer Richard Scher. As a writer and producer, Golden gained artistic control of her work, establishing herself as a pioneering figure in electro and early hip hop. In 1985, she relocated to Los Angeles, where she began working on a semi-regular basis with various artists. She is featured in the book "Signed, Sealed And Delivered: True Life Stories Of Women In Pop" (1984) and in "Rap Attack 3: African Rap To Global Hip Hop."
