Louis Jordan & his Tympany Five was an American popular music group that recorded from the 1930s until the 1970s. In the 1940s, they became the most popular recording band in what would soon be known as rhythm and blues music, achieving eighteen No. 1 hits. This accomplishment places them as the third most successful singles artist in Billboard R&B charts history.
