Louisa Jo Killen, formerly known as Louis Killen, was a Geordie folk singer and English concertina player. Born on January 10, 1934, in Gateshead, Tyneside, England, she was one of the founders of the Bridge Folk Club in Newcastle upon Tyne. In 1967, she moved to America, where she joined The Clancy Brothers from 1971 to 1974, recording four albums with them. After resuming her solo career in 1974, she performed briefly with her then-wife. In 2003, she returned to the UK, settling back in Gateshead. Having lived as a transgender person in the US during the 1990s, she changed her name and gender from Louis Killen to Louisa Jo Killen in 2010. She passed away on August 9, 2013, in Gateshead, Tyneside, England.
