L.T.D. is a soul, funk, and disco band whose name stands for "Love, Togetherness and Devotion." The group was formed in Greensboro and later moved to New York in 1968. They gained popularity on the rotating P.A. circuit and signed with A&M Records in 1973. In 1976, they produced notable works that showcased the powerful tenor of their lead vocalist, which gave them an edge over other soul groups. Their hit "Love To The World" peaked at No. 07 on the black album charts. L.T.D. is well-regarded for both their disco tracks and strong soul ballads, including "Love Ballad," which was written by one of their members. The original lead vocalist left the band around 1980 to pursue a solo career and was succeeded by talented musicians, including members known from other famous acts. After an 18-year hiatus from touring and recording, L.T.D. reformed in 1999 with new lead vocalist Greg Henneghan.
