Luca LTJ Trevisi, known professionally as LTJ Xperience, began his DJ and producer career in the 1980s. As a resident DJ at two of Italy's most famous clubs, Kinky in Bologna and Cap Creus in Imola, he was among the first Italian DJs to play House music and to revive classic black music, jazz, and Latin-bossa tracks from the 1970s, which eventually contributed to the Acid Jazz and Rare Groove movements. His debut single, "First Job," released in 1988 in collaboration with Kekkotronics, marked the first release on Bologna-based Irma Records and quickly gained cult status among UK and US DJs. In the early 1990s, LTJ produced singles in a pre-breakbeat style, including "Don't Stop The Sax" and "Funky Superfly," and worked on Tameka Starr's single "Going In Circles," also for Irma Records, which remains a classic in the downtempo/R&B genre. In the late 1990s, he began producing acid jazz bands like Bossa Nostra, whose first album featured Vicky Anderson and is still regarded as a significant European acid jazz album. He later focused on collecting rare vinyl, which allowed him to connect with DJs worldwide and uncover forgotten gems.
