Lubomyr Melnyk is a Ukrainian composer and pianist, born in Munich. While residing in Paris, he developed a pioneering technique of piano playing characterized by extremely rapid and complex note-series. Recognized as the fastest pianist in the world, he achieves speeds exceeding 19.5 notes per second in each hand and holds the record for the most notes played in one hour, totaling 93,650 individual notes, a feat documented in Sweden in 1989.
