Lúcia Maria Turnbull, known as Lucinha Turnbull, was born on April 22, 1953, in São Paulo, Brazil. She is recognized as the first woman guitarist in Brazil and is a talented singer, composer, and guitarist. The daughter of a Scottish father and a Brazilian mother, she moved to London at the age of 16, where she joined the folk group Solid British Hat Band. After returning to Brazil in 1972, Turnbull opened for Os Mutantes at the Teatro Oficina in São Paulo. She later formed the duo As Cilibrinas do Éden with Rita Lee and participated in the Festival Phono 73. In 1973, she became a guitarist and vocalist for the Tutti Frutti band, touring across Brazil. In 1976, she formed the group Bandolim and was involved in the musical "Rocky Horror Show." In 1977, Turnbull provided vocals for "Refavela" and "Refestança" alongside Gilberto Gil and Rita Lee. Throughout her career, she has contributed to albums by notable artists such as Caetano Veloso, Rita Lee, Moraes Moreira, Guilherme Arantes, and Erasmo Carlos. She released her first LP, Aroma, produced by Perinho Santana, in 1979. Her song "Bobagem," co-written with Rita Lee, was included in Cássia Eller's album Marginal.
