Luciano Perrone (8 January 1908 - 13 February 2001) was a renowned Brazilian drummer born in Rio de Janeiro. He was the son of maestro Luis Perrone and pianist Noêmia Perrone, and he initially began his musical journey as an opera singer. At the age of 9, he performed alongside the famous Italian opera singer Enrico Caruso during Caruso's visit to Brazil in 1917. In 1922, Perrone began his career as a percussionist, creating sound effects for films at Cine Odeon. By 1924, he transitioned to drumming for dances, accompanying various orchestras and jazz bands. His recording career started in 1927 with the Odeon label, where he developed rhythms like samba in its early stages. Perrone formed a significant partnership with maestro and pianist Radamés Gnatalli in 1929 at Cassino Eden in Lambari, which lasted for several decades. Throughout the 1930s, he worked at Rádio Nacional and collaborated on numerous recordings with prominent artists of the time, continuing this work into the 1940s and 1950s. In 1960, he was part of the Terceira Caravana Oficial da Música Popular Brasileira, performing across several European countries.
