Lucinda Williams, born on January 26, 1953, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, is an American singer and songwriter known for her blend of rock, folk, blues, and country music. She began her recording career with albums in 1978 and 1980 that showcased a traditional country and blues style, but initially received little attention from radio, the media, or the public. In 1988, she gained recognition with the release of her self-titled album, Lucinda Williams.
