Luis Agudo, born in La Plata, Argentina, in 1940, is a talented percussionist who began his musical journey at the age of fourteen under the guidance of Antonio Yepes at the Musical Conservatory of La Plata. In 1965, while living in a favela in Morro do Salgueiro, he integrated into a local family and community, which allowed him to explore the authentic nature and origins of Brazilian folklore. His piece "Dona Fia" pays homage to the woman who welcomed him as a son during his time there. Agudo has showcased his musical prowess in 24 countries, performing alongside renowned artists such as Dizzy Gillespie, Luter Allison, Philly Jo Jones, Steve Grossman, Glen Ferris, Robin Kenyatta, Jimmy Knepper, Bobby Watson, Victor Lewis, Arfang Kouyate, Julius Farmer, and Sonny Taylor, among others. In 1984, he released the acclaimed album "Afrosamba," and in 1990, he collaborated with Italian pianist Franco D'Andrea to record "Enronsadira" for Red Records in Italy. From 1991 until spring 1998, Agudo lived in Chile, where he deepened his understanding of Latin American rhythms while balancing other musical engagements and traveling to neighboring countries such as Uruguay, Peru, Bolivia, and Colombia. In 1998, he moved to Italy, where his musical career continued to evolve.
