Luis Enrique Martínez Argote, known as the "Pollo Vallenato," was a Colombian composer, accordionist, and performer of vallenato music. He was born on February 24, 1922, in Hatico, Fonseca, La Guajira, Colombia. Luis Enrique began his professional career in 1947, and in 1948, he made his first recording, which included songs such as “Seis Días De La Semana” and “Recuerdos De Emilianito.” This work was well-received, paving the way for his success as a singer-songwriter. Throughout his career, he collaborated with notable artists like Abel Antonio Villa, Emiliano Zuleta “El Viejo,” Pacho Rada, Alejandro Durán, and Alfredo Gutiérrez. He passed away at the age of 71 on March 25, 1995, at a clinic in Santa Marta.
